A daily driver covering 20,000km a year and a weekend exotic that gets hand washed and garaged are two completely different situations. Recommending the same product for both would be wrong, and expensive for you.

We carry Undrdog HCC for practical, long-lasting protection on cars that earn their keep, and Modesta glass coatings for vehicles where the finish matters as much as the protection itself. The recommendation is always based on your car and how you use it. Nothing more.

What ceramic coating does

Modesta is handmade in Japan. Chemistry-led, not marketing-led. A multi-layer glass coating system that physically bonds to the paint surface through infrared heat curing. The depth and gloss it produces has to be seen in person to be understood.

The process
  • Consultation first, paint assessed under lighting, use case understood, product confirmed
  • Short-wave infrared pre-bake to surface any hidden impurities including phantom water spots, bird etching remnants and heat-cycle damage that appears resolved but is not. What gets sealed in stays sealed in
  • Full paint correction to remove swirl marks and surface-level scratches. Wet sanding utilised where the paint requires it. The surface going under the coating has to earn it
  • Clinical degreasing stage across all painted surfaces. Every trace of polish residue, oil and contamination removed before anything is applied
  • Modesta P-01A primer applied to all painted surfaces and left to cure for three hours. This is what the coating bonds to
  • Selected Modesta coating applied to all panels
  • Infrared curing on every panel for 10 to 15 minutes at 65 degrees. Accelerates the bond and locks the coating in
  • 24 hour sitting period before the vehicle is moved
  • Modesta M1 sealant applied over the fresh coating to protect against water spotting during the full curing window

Common questions
How much does ceramic coating cost in Adelaide? +
Undrdog HCC starts from $1,600 inc GST, a single application covering full exterior including glass, plastics and rubber. Modesta starts from $1,100 for BC-08 through to $3,300 for Private Label. Every car is quoted individually because size, paint condition and product choice all affect the final price.
Undrdog HCC or Modesta. How do I choose? +
If you use your car regularly, want great protection with minimal fuss, and do not want to hand wash every week, Undrdog HCC is the right choice. If you are an enthusiast who appreciates the process, garages the car, and wants the absolute best result that keeps giving year after year, Modesta is the answer. We will talk through your situation and tell you honestly which one makes sense.
Do I need paint correction before a ceramic coating? +
Yes, and for Modesta the correction stage is non-negotiable. Before anything else, the vehicle goes under short-wave infrared lamps to pre-bake the paint. This brings hidden impurities to the surface including phantom water spots, bird etching remnants and damage that appears resolved but has not fully cleared. These defects survive normal visual inspection but re-emerge after the paint goes through a heat cycle. If they are not removed before coating, they get sealed in permanently. Once we know exactly what we are working with, full paint correction is carried out to remove swirl marks and surface-level scratches. Wet sanding is utilised where the paint demands it. Ceramic seals whatever is underneath it, so what goes under the coating has to be right.
What is Modesta and why is it different from other ceramic coatings? +
Modesta is handmade in Japan using a multi-layer approach where a primer bonds to the paint, followed by infrared heat curing that physically changes the molecular structure to form a hard glass layer. The result is a depth and clarity that polymer coatings cannot achieve. We are SA's only accredited installer and Modesta does not hand out that accreditation.
How long does ceramic coating last? +
Undrdog HCC is 5 or more years with regular maintenance. Modesta ranges from 3 to 10 years depending on the product and how well it is maintained. Both require hand washing with no drive-through or automatic car washes. Like anything you look after, it will go the distance.
Are you really the only Modesta installer in SA? +
Yes. We have invested significantly in training, including interstate and a conference in Tokyo, to maintain our standing within the Modesta network. If you want Modesta in South Australia, this is the only place it is done properly.
